Effects of Workspace on Engineering Software Projects

چکیده
In this paper, a combination of qualitative research methods is utilized to uncover new environmental factors affecting the management of software projects. Two new findings emerged from this study. First, workspace allocation directly affects resources productivity; and consequently, final deliverables of software projects. This effect could be positive, negative, and/or neutral nature. The second is the identification of sub-factors that control the nature of effect of this newly uncovered factor. Hence, a thorough evaluation for the project context should be undertaken to decide on the suitable workspace allocation strategy that will guide it to a safe end. Further work is being carried out to apply the same study on other environments so as to cross validate the results and generalize the conclusions of this

The work-reflection-learning cycle in software engineering student projects: Use of collaboration tools
This paper explores collaboration and learning between stakeholders in customer-drivenstudent projects. The research objectives are to obtain empirically based knowledge on howstudents relate to stakeholders in customer-driven projects, and to suggest implications forthe pedagogical design of the project courses.Empirical data was collected from two Bachelor courses in softw...
متن کاملThe wiki as an integrative tool in project work
The paper provides insights on how wikis support project work and what characteristics of wikis make them adequate for this purpose. The findings are based on a case study of software engineering projects in an educational setting. Project wikis are found to serve an integrative role along several dimensions of project work, enabled by the flexibility and automatic support for capturing history...
متن کاملA Conceptual Framework For Multi-Modal Interactive Virtual Workspaces
SUMMARY: Construction projects involve a large number of both direct stakeholders (clients, professional teams, contractors, etc.) and indirect stakeholders (local authorities, residents, workers, etc.). Current methods of communicating building design information can lead to several types of difficulties (e.g. incomplete understanding of the planned construction, functional inefficiencies, ina...
متن کاملInterval Analysis of Controllable Workspace for Cable Robots
Workspace analysis is one of the most important issues in the robotic parallel manipulator design. However, the unidirectional constraint imposed by cables causes this analysis more challenging in the cabledriven redundant parallel manipulators. Controllable workspace is one of the general workspace in the cabledriven redundant parallel manipulators due to the dependency on geometry parameter...
متن کاملA Requirements Engineering Framework for Integrated Systems Development for the Construction Industry
Computer Integrated Construction (CIC) systems are computer environments through which collaborative working can be undertaken. Although many CIC systems have been developed to demonstrate the communication and collaboration within the construction projects, the uptake of CICs by the industry is still inadequate. This is mainly due to the fact that research methodologies of the CIC development ...
